We were approached to help Kongsberg Maritime recapture the aft bridge market. The design of the Kongsberg K-Master operator chair is based on functionality, simplicity, user experience and evolution of the established Kongsberg Maritime identity. By thorough user testing and clever combinations of technology, such as touch screens and multifunctional levers, the result is a clean and intuitive design with extreme reduction of buttons and interaction elements. The form language evolves the established Kongsberg Maritime elements like the geometric theme and the contrast framing, with more elegance and focus on high quality, craftsmanship and precision.
The workstation is developed to meet the needs and challenges in offshore service vessels (OSV), and sets a new standard in the integration of navigation, control and manoeuvring functions for the aft bridge. It provides unique access to all major control systems within easy reach of the seated operator and ensures complete situational awareness.
This product was nominated for the prestigious Norwegian design award Honors Award for Design Excellence.
